November, Karma Wednesdays – Week Four

It seems like only yesterday I was telling you about my Karma Yoga Project.  And, today I will be wrapping up November, Karma Wednesdays with the reminder to recycle.

Why recycle?

  • Reduces waste in landfills
  • Conserves natural resources
  • Helps prevent pollution
  • Saves energy
  • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions
  • Helps sustain the environment
  • Helps create new jobs

Thanks EPA!

For those of you New Yorkers, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) has a handy site re: New York City’s Residential Recycling Program.  Check it out if you have any questions on what you can and can’t recycle, etc.  Not only does recycling help the environment, it also cuts costs for the city!

Think twice before throwing that water bottle or aluminum can in the trash.  Reuse plastic grocery bags to bring lunch into work – better yet, bring canvas bags to do your grocery shopping.  Recycle those newspapers – or download them on your tablet instead.  There are so many ways you can do your part.

Karma Wednesdays might be over, but check out how you can help in your community – from volunteering at a local shelter or nursing home to something as simple as picking up litter you see while walking.

How do you help in your community?

  1. Thanks for the reminders about recycling. Most people don’t recycle nearly as much as they could. And don’t forget to check out your local Freecycle group at freecycle.org, which is a great way of finding new homes for the things you don’t need anymore.

    • Lisa – thanks so much, you’re awesome! Need to put some thought into this, but hopefully can find some time to post on this within the next week…I’ve been way too busy for my own good, but wrapping up my 200 hr yoga training this weekend! I have a feeling that my schedule is going to open up quite a bit, haha.

  2. ❤ Karma Yoga! My best friend and I just finished up teacher training and are hoping to start a donation based class where each month we pick a different organization to partner up with- and have the proceeds of class donated to them🙂 a great way to get involved in the community and share the gift of yoga!
